How do I change my OneDrive sync folder?

What is Microsoft OneDrive?

OneDrive is a Microsoft cloud storage service that allows you to store files in the cloud and access them from anywhere. You can also use OneDrive to sync files between devices. If you need to change your OneDrive sync settings, you can do so using the OneDrive app.

How Do I Change My Sync Folder(s)?

To change your OneDrive sync settings using the OneDrive app

  • Open the app by right-clicking the icon in the taskbar (1), then click the gear icon (2) followed by the settings menu (3).

  • On the account tab click the choose folders button.

  • Choose which folders you want to sync by selecting them individually (2) or simply opt to sync them all (1). The location of the folders on your PC can be seen at the bottom of this box (3)

To change your OneDrive folder location on your PC

  • Perhaps you don’t like the default location of your sync folder because of limited storage space in that file location etc and want to move it elsewhere? Most people won’t need to move it, simply ensure any files you work on are within your sync folder (above). If you do want to move it though – the good news is that you can!
  • Simply unlink your account (1) then add it as a new account  (2)

  • You will then be able to choose a custom location during the set-up process rather than sticking with the default location it offers you.
